Suffolk based Bradman-Lake Ltd. was established in 2007, bringing together four older brands manufacturing primary packaging, secondary cartoning, end of line case, shrink-wrapping and bakery bagging machines. This enables the company to offer a turnkey packaging service to customers and is the UK’s largest manufacturer of automated and robotic packaging machinery. Customers include many well-known international brands. Export sales grew by 167% in the three year period when the proportion of sales achieved overseas grew from 25% to 69%. Bradman Lake has offices in Mumbai and Rock Hill (USA) and 16 active agents. Top markets are India, the USA, Spain, Canada and Jordan. The company has been particularly successful in India, where it has an installed base of machinery representing c.30% of the potential

market.

Geosense Ltd - International Trade

The company wins the Queen’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales over the last three years.

Bury St Edmunds based Geosense Ltd. began trading independently in 2013, manufacturing and supplying geotechnical instruments for monitoring the safety and performance of some of the world largest construction projects. From the Paris Metro to the world's largest copper mine, Geosense sensors have been used as part of complex monitoring schemes around the world. Working in a broad range of sectors including Metros, Dams, Mining, Rail, Deep Foundations & critical infrastructure Geosense sensors have been sold to more than 75 countries worldwide and are internationally recognised for their quality and innovation. Growing internationally over the past few years, their key growth markets include Chile, Spain, USA, Germany and Brazil. Overseas sales grew by 59% across the three[1]year period when the

proportion of total sales secured overseas increased from 46% to a high of 60%. Geosense demonstrated significant commercial success across all areas. The

Burland Technology Solutions - Sustainable Development

Burland Technology started trading in 2008, is based in Great Blakenham, Suffolk, and employs 12 staff. It uses a subcontract manufacturing business model to produce its own designs of power distribution products for use in office fit-out, data centres, retail, and education sectors. In 2017 it stopped fighting competitors using a business model based on components with a short life which were thrown away when offices were altered or refurbished. It has realigned its business model to provide a circular business model based on a Lifetime Warranty and take-back service. This has produced significant positive environmental and cost impacts. Products

include under-floor power track, floor boxes, access grommets, desk power modules, data centre rack power and power/AV units. Burland is recognised with

a third Queen’s Award for Enterprise, having achieved awards for International Trade in 2016 and Innovation in 2019. Burland have provided leadership and shown a small business can lead the way and nudge their sector.

Adnams Plc - Sustainable Development category


Winners in this category demonstrate commercially successful sustainable development practices.


Adnams plc is a medium-sized regional brewer founded in 1872 in Southwold, Suffolk. It employs almost 600 staff, and demonstrates exemplary and innovative performance, leading the industry in many sustainable development areas. It supplies everything from small independent cafes to multi-national supermarkets and large pub chains, operates 13 shops, nine managed inns and a tenanted estate of 38 pubs.


In 2005 and 2012 Adnams was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development and it has won many other awards. It has an excellent track record of positive impacts ranging from beach clean-ups, to an environmentally-friendly distribution depot. It spreads the mes- sage to the wider brewing industry and shows a clear commitment to continued learning and development to deliver strategic aims.

PCE Group Limited - International Trade category

Established in 2014 in Beccles, Suffolk, PCE GROUP is a major designer and manufacturer of automatic solutions servicing a wide range of sectors, including Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Industrial Automation, Build to Print, Ocular and Medical/Pharmaceutical.


Originally founded in 1961 as a luxury day cruiser builder, they pivoted to become a manufacturer of packaging machinery in 1981. Today they combine complementary technologies such as Robotics, Vision Inspection and Additive Manufacture; possessing complete in house skills and capabilities to build state of the art turn- key automation systems within the Ocular and Medical Sectors; as well as product fulfilment systems within industrial manufacturing.


Their customers are across the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Central and South America. Their new markets recently established include Hungary, Costa Rica, and the USA and overseas sales have grown by 2,061% and the percentage exported has risen from 3.5% to 36%. Pipeshield International Limited - International Trade category

Pipeshield International Ltd was founded in 1999 and manufactures in Montrose, Blyth, headquartered in Lowestoft. The company won a Queen's Award for International Trade in 2013.


It provides solutions to offshore oil and gas, renew- ables and marine civil industries for the protection, stabilisation and support of subsea assets, such as pipelines, cables and equipment, together with the prevention of scour around subsea structures.


Working with consultants and client engineers at early project stages required forming strategic supply partnerships in its main market, UAE and in Saudi Arabia and SE Asia, with manufacturing in UK together with overseas manufacturing arrangements in Damman KSA , Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrainin UAE, Qatar and SE Asia along with other project specific construction sites Overseas sales have grown by 248% over the three year application period and the proportion of sales exported increased to 71% of total sales.

The company recognised in 2014 that it would not achieve its growth targets without growing its overseas revenues and established a sound strategy for growth targeting Europe and the USA. It sells both through distributors and its own office.


Substantial overseas growth has been achieved and is anticipated to expand even further, especially in the USA. Chorus Intelligence Limited - Innovation category

Chorus Intelligence Ltd are an SME based in Suffolk which was formed in 2011. The founder of the company used know-how from sifting large data sets in the financial industry and applied it to law enforcement creating Chorus Analys- er, which is now used by 80% of police forces and all of the counter terrorism units in the UK.


The software tool solves the problem of lengthy manual data cleansing and formatting by automating data processing. It also allows users to spot connections in the data that would otherwise remain hidden. The initial product has been further developed into a suite of tools. The suite includes Investigator, a tool for non expert operational officers to get rapid results from data evidence, Indexer and Plus, products that enable different departments and forces to share data and conduct cross case analysis and collaborate easier.
