The Queen’s Green Canopy in Suffolk

Across the nation, in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, people will be planting trees to form what is being called ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’.

In Suffolk we are linking up existing woodland with the planting of new trees and hedges to connect our communities and encourage natural corridors for biodiversity. Together we hope to plant a tree for every resident.

To find out more about how you can get involved please view our dedicated page at https://suffolk-lieutenancy.org.uk/queens-green-canopy/

The Suffolk Lieutenancy

The post of Lord-Lieutenant is now an honorary appointment. The origin dates back to Henry VIII when its holder was made responsible for the maintenance of order and for the military measures necessary locally for defence. Go to our History page to find out more information about the role.
