Suffolk Medal Presentation to Jonathan Adnams

The Lord-Lieutenant, Clare, Countess of Euston was delighted to present the Suffolk Medal to Jonathan Adnams and Rebecca Crerar. The Ceremony took place on 21 June at the Suffolk Day celebrations at the Cornhill in Ipswich.

The Suffolk Medal was created as the highest award that can be made by Suffolk to an individual from the County.

Jonathan Adnams citation read that he is a true Suffolk man, born in Southwold within sight and sound of the sea. He has influenced the world of Brewing, Business and Community Action from his Southwold home on the East Suffolk Coast.

Rebecca Crerar is a passionate advocate of refugee rights and has made an outstanding contribution to improving the lives of asylum seekers and refugees in the county for nearly 25 years.

The Suffolk Lieutenancy

The post of Lord-Lieutenant is now an honorary appointment. The origin dates back to Henry VIII when its holder was made responsible for the maintenance of order and for the military measures necessary locally for defence. Go to our History page to find out more information about the role.
