The Lord-Lieutenant presents the Kings Award for Enterprise for International Trade to Joanna Brennan of Pump Street Chocolate

The Lord-Lieutenant presented Pump Street Ltd with The King’s Award for Enterprise at a Ceremony, held at the company’s headquarters at Rendlesham on Friday 17th November 2023. The Award was in the category of International Trade.

The bakery and chocolate making company was founded by Joanna Brennan and her father in 2010, beginning with a bakery, then moving into chocolate making and growing the business to the award-winning success it is today. The company has grown significantly with international exports increasing by 78% between 2019 and 2021. The main growth has been in the USA and China and has seen Pump Street become a market leaders in the craft chocolate category across North America specifically.

Presenting CEO and Founder, Joanna Brennan with the Crystal, Lady Euston commented that these results demonstrate that ‘Pump Street Chocolate is one of Suffolk’s most successful international businesses and we are all incredibly proud that you are based in Suffolk’. Lady Euston paid particular tribute to the company’s strong commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint. The company is also a leader in ethical food production, sourcing ingredients from national and international sustainable sources, working closely with local communities.

Following the Presentation, the Lord-Lieutenant was taken on a tour of the factory to see at first hand how the special products are made – and of course a tasting was enjoyed too! The ceremony was attended by many members of the Pump Street team as well as customers and suppliers. The High Sheriff of Suffolk and the Chairman of Suffolk County Council also attended to congratulate the business on its outstanding success.
