The Lord Lieutenant presents PCE Group Ltd with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise

On behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Clare, Countess of Euston, presented James Cook, Managing Director of PCE Group, Beccles with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise on Monday 2 August.  The Ceremony took place at the company’s Headquarters in Beccles in front of all employees who attended both in person and virtually from the company’s East Midlands Office.

PCE Group were awarded the Queen’s Award in 2020 in the International Trade category for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales over the last three years.  The presentation of the Award had been delayed for a year due to the pandemic and the company’s wish to celebrate the achievement at a time when it could safely bring all its employees together.

The PCE Group is a major designer and manufacturer of automatic solutions servicing a wide range of sectors including Fast Moving Consumer Goods, industrial automation, Build to Print, Ocular and Medical/pharmaceutical.  It was originally founded in 1961 as a luxury day cruiser builder and this year celebrates 50 years in business.  Their customer base is worldwide including Europe, USA, Canada Central and South America.

Lady Euston congratulated the company for their longevity and adapting the business be at the forefront of UK manufacturing, pioneering growth across many industries.  She congratulated them their commitment, of over 30 years of employing apprentices and nurturing talent.   Lady Euston commented

This Award recognises your leadership and worldwide reputation for innovation and quality in the manufacture of world-class automation.

          It also celebrates how you have built and maintained some of the UK’s strongest and most successful supplier alliances, many with high profile international brands.

          And it recognises how PCE has championed new and innovative partnerships, most recently with the University of East Anglia to revolutionise drug treatments, and with ENGEL the market-leading manufacturers of high spec injection moulding machinery for the high-performance plastics industry.’

The company were presented with the QAE Chrystal bowl and Scroll, which is signed personally by HM The Queen and the Prime Minister.

Following the presentation the Lord Lieutenant was taken on a tour of the company’s factory and met employees.

The Suffolk Lieutenancy

The post of Lord-Lieutenant is now an honorary appointment. The origin dates back to Henry VIII when its holder was made responsible for the maintenance of order and for the military measures necessary locally for defence. Go to our History page to find out more information about the role.
